Victoria Stevens, a stroke survivor, ran her sixth marathon in 2005 for Train to End Stroke. Ms. Stevens had a stroke in 2003 and had run four marathons before the stroke. The stroke was debilitating, but Ms. Stevens, with the assistance of her Neurologist, Dr. Frey, and Nurse Practitioner Lisa Crimaldi from Barrows, assisted in her rehabilitation. Another party that was instrumental in assisting her in speech therapy, physical therapy and occupational therapy was the NeuroInstitute located in Tempe, Arizona. With their assistance, Ms. Stevens has recovered with very little residual impact from the stroke. She continues to raise money for the American Heart and Stroke Association, and plans to run the San Diego Maraton in 2007 to raise more funds.

It is an award-winning video and deals with such conflicts as domestic violence in teen relationships, gang issues and conflicts between elders and teens. While serving as board leader for the MCBA Committee on Domestic Violence, she started the "Goods Drive" for Victims of domestic violence. Hundreds of pounds of clothing, baby products, diapers, baby clothes, personal hygiene product, professional clothing for women, are gathered each year in October, which is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and distributed to all of the shelters in Maricopa County. Ms. Stevens also founded Arizona's first women's Fly Fishing Organization, called the Dame Juliana Anglers in 2004. The organization is named after a nun who wrote the first fly fishing treatise.
